Canberra mountain bikers Caroline Buchanan and Leigh Darrell wrapped up the national 4X (four cross) titles yesterday at Kurrajong, NSW. Buchanan showed her class to win the final and take the womens national title again. Meanwhile Darrell got stuck in the carnage of the mens final, which saw all 4 guys hit the dirt – he managed to get back on the bike to take second, and score his first national 4X title. Just goes to show that having world class 4X track & trails at Stromlo has boosted the skills of the local riders.

More details of the weekend racing is on Cycling News.

The Australia day weekend will see the Australian National Championships return to Mt Stromlo, so I’m sure both Buchanan and Darrell will be looking to win the national jersey on the home track.

Caroline can put many big talking men to shame on the 4X (and downhill) track – much respect. And she’s only 18!

There will definitely be coverage of the MTB nationals – as I’ll be there.

i’d be good at 4X competition… four time one is four, four times two is eight, four times three is twelve, four times four is sixteen [a fact singualrly overlooked by many vehicle manufactures, seemingly], four times five…

see??

actually, good on both caroline and leigh. really! – i rekkun taking national titles in anything is a fab-o acheivement. total respect to the hard work and dedication. s’ more than i have to proffer…

thanks for the info. do they both read RA? keep us posted on the nationals… ; )
