The CT has this story on new stats being released by the ABS pointing out what Canberra’s suburbs are like. From the youngest to the oldest to the one with most cars. Some obvious ones there – poorest is Oaks Estate, Charnwood and Symonston, richest Yarralumla, Deakin, Barton and Red Hill.

Are there more obvious stats they’ve missed?

Trail bikes in Melba? Hell yes! I’m sick of the noisy fuckers looping down my street in the middle of the night. One day I’m gonna send my dog out there…..

most booners in Australia? Sure…we have our share…but I’d wager that every other city had more…seriously.

eh. you made me read a canberra times article. I hope you are happy. I’m going to have nightmares for a while now.
And I found no mention of my suburb at alll. Or, in fact, any suburb i’ve lived in.

i used to live in melba.
i saw our old house the other day, its up for rent at 340/wk. it looks like an entirely new house out in palmerston.

emu ridge is not full of weirdos, thanks. its full of smackies and low-socio-economic groups, and all the wheelie bins have stickers on them saying “please do not deposit fitpacks or needles in these bins.”

I think the booner thing is a second/third generation mutation.

The parents come here well educated and for the good jobs, start breeding, then a degeneration sets in. A combination of spoilt kids/bad (liberal) parenting and you start getting unmotivated derros.

One of my neighbours is a good case-in-point, she’s well educated, well paid, and the kids are jail birds.

Most acorns and leaves all over the roads = Downer
MOst dithery old ladies in volvos on the roads = Yarralumla
Most enormous dogs out for walks = Hackett
Most farmers in Utes (and police) at the shops –
Watson
Most school kids in uniform and audible school bells = Pearce
Most petty theft of parked cars = Reid
Most memorials –
campbell

Woohoo, my suburb got a mention. Nice to know I moved into the right area for something.

Did the survey have a figure for the number of feral booners per 1000 people ? If so, Canberra would have scored #1 in Australia. Just because we have the highest median salary in Australia, doesn’t mean we have the breeding to go with it !

Most weirdoes=Emu Ridge, Ressies and Woden et al.

Highest proportion of NIMBYs and whingers (we all know who they are and where they live).

Most weirdos (inner north and south, obviously).

They live at number 16 (I think, I’ll double check) Henslowe place and their feral kids ring barked a bunch of trees at the primary school.

They almost ran me down in the park one day, pushing my child in the pram. In a park…. That went down a treat with me I can tell you. I’m not ready for sabotage just yet though.

You don’t live near the High School do you RandomGit?
I remember those trail bikers hooning down a path between Verbugghen and another street.

Pain in the arse at 3am.

Melba didn’t even rate a mention. They obviously didn’t survey trail bike use on public pathways, then we would have hit number one!
