Andrew Barr has the happy news that the Centenary will feature a game of One Day Cricket now that the interim format is well and truly on the nose.
This morning I joined Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland to announce that Australia will play a one-day International at Manuka Oval as part of the 2012-13 Commonwealth Bank Series.
The Australian team is coming to Manuka Oval as part of the Centenary of Canberra celebrations in 2013.
Although Manuka Oval has hosted many Prime Minister’s XI matches, Canberra has never hosted a match involving the Australia cricket team.
The match will be a significant boost for cricket in the ACT. It will be a great chance for cricket fans from Canberra and around the region so see some of the best cricketers in the world in action. Juniors, in particular, will be able to see their cricketing heroes live.
How generous of Cricket Australia to give us a lame and dying format of the game now all the interest is in T20 or Tests.
Os possibly more interest is word that we’re in the mix to host world cup matches in 2015.
