Canberra trumps Sydney and Melbourne

And every other city other than (interestingly) Adelaide.

According to the results of a nationwide poll of city residents, Canberra is the second best capital city in the country to live.

Residents were reportedly asked a range of questions about factors such as employment, entertainment, natural environment, schools, housing, cleanliness, cultural integration and road network.

You have to love how Keneally attempts to play the old ‘more people means more right’ card. Nice try, Kristina.

Canberra has a lot going for it. It is not congested, overcrowded, polluted although if Land Planning has their way we might end up more like Sydney and Melbourne with smaller housing blocks and cramming people closer together seems to be the de rigueur and woe betide anyone who disgrees!

Canberra is not as community spirited (openly) than some places but it is there if you go looking for it. Like most things it does not come to you if you don’t make a personal effort.

Yes there are many w**ers in our public service but they come from all over to Canberra so you can’t really blame ‘Canberra’.

Are you quite alright DBC?

Problems at work or something?

Canberra is the rudest most unfriendly place I have ever been to.

It never ceases to amaze me. Is it that all of the relatively normal individuals possessing the intelligence to leave Canberra have already done so and left all of the intelligent yet completley socially akward/unfriendly/autistic spectrum/rule oriented/self important types to hold the city hostage. It would be interesting to imagine what Australia would be like if it’s government personnel weren’t sentenced to live in Canberra. No doubt a wider variety of Australians would chose to become involved in the public service.

I have tried again and again to give it the benefit of the doubt but the unfortunate truth is undeniable.

Australia is better than this!

Keneally asks “Adelaide is a great city but if it’s so fantastic, why aren’t more people living there?”

I’d hazard a guess that it’s so fantastic BECAUSE there aren’t more people living there.
