Canberran Twitter recommendations?

I’ve recently developed a massive crush on Twitter and want to find good Canberrans to follow (on Twitter, rather than down the street).

I want to find what is on, be warned of disasters of all kinds, keep up with gossip and generally be amused.

Keen to hear your suggestions!

Just search Twitter for “Canberra” http://twitter.com/#!/who_to_follow/search/canberra
If you want amusement not just canberra related try “S*** my dad says” and “SteveMartinToGo”

necessity rather than choice.

Twitter poisons my soul.

Phew…For a second there I felt my righteous riotous foundations were built on shifting sands. 🙂

Twitter is for twits, what better source for everything you’ve asked for than RiotAct sheesh.

I used to think twitter was a load of cobblers, but I use it all the time now. It can be a great source for getting breaking news, among other things. As for local content the @ACTPol_Traffic would be my most referenced.

The trick with it, of course, is the find the right sources who use twitter most effectively (ie. to share info, rather than the state of their toenails). As with any online outlet there is a lot of crud on twitter.

I wonder if those with a blinkered “get a life” take on twitter were also of a similar mindset when the internet starting to become part of daily life, haha?

Most media outlet’s twit feeds are retweeting inanities from their fanbois, I caution against following.

As someone who likes to cast the occasional eye over twitter (just for street cred…) I have recently been a little frustrated about the re-tweet : actual tweet ratio some people exhibit.

Twitter is the first communication system in history to turn a incredibly low “signal to noise” ratio into a feature.

hmm, I tend to view twitter as a hideous cost of doing my job rather than a source of amusement.

But if you really want to be getting raw information and have nothing better to do with your life here’s some of the more worthwhile local feeds:

http://twitter.com/#!/tamsmediaroom
http://twitter.com/#!/CPOACT
http://twitter.com/#!/ACTPol_Traffic
http://twitter.com/#!/KateLundy
http://twitter.com/#!/garyhumphries
http://twitter.com/#!/Sullivan_ACTEW

And heck while you’re there here’s me:

Note: Highly recommend doing something more worthwhile with your life.
