Founder and Designer of the incredible label Rockstars and Royalty, founder of The Just Be Revolution and a nominee in the Rising Women of Spirit category of the Lifeline Canberra Awards 2017 – Vicky Kidd Gallichan is truly a gem in Canberra.
Vicky’s label Rockstars and Royalty is the Canberra based couture house that makes beautiful vintage-inspired gowns that can turn anyone into a swan, ‘belle of the ball’ or life of the party! Born out of a need to help people express who they are and feel confident in what they wear, Rockstars and Royalty is a pretty unique and special label. Vicky is also a sustainable fashion advocate with a YouTube channel where she shows viewers how to upcycle clothes and accessories and also talks about issues such as body confidence.
Rockstars and Royalty began after Vicky spent 18 years watching her clients transform after trying on dresses she had made for them. Witnessing their body language change and their confidence grow inspired Vicky to create the label so she could have this impact on many more people. The label was founded on the basis of encouraging people to be themselves.
It’s just this kind of sentiment that led to the creation of The Just Be Revolution. The Just Be Revolution is a platform for spreading virtues of love, tolerance, courage, strength, kindness and confidence. It’s a movement free for anyone to join, as they believe that as the Just Be army grows, the collective voice will get louder. They believe together they’re stronger and can make the world a better place for everyone. Just Be is fighting for a world where nobody is afraid to be themselves.
The Just Be philosophy ethos says:
Just Be is for everyone who wants to live in a kinder, more tolerant world where nobody is judged on their appearance.
Just Be is for everyone who wants to help change what society sees as beautiful, normal and acceptable.
Just Be is for anyone who has been teased, bullied, abused, beaten up, or worse, because of how they look or how they choose to look.
Just Be is for everyone who is confident and happy to just be who they are.
Just Be is fighting for a future where everyone is accepted for who they are and how they look.
Just Be believes that everybody should be free to be who they are, or who they choose to be, without fear of repercussion.
