Canberra's fifth Parliamentarian? Thank you Jan McLucas

Vex News is taking a look at Labor’s Queensland Senator Jan McLucas who appears to be unable to tear herself away from the joys of life in Canberra:

The Queensland Lefty ALP Senator Jan McLucas is living a lie. And it’s a lie so bizarre that you have to wonder what’s going on in the Senator’s head.

She lives in Canberra despite insisting to all and sundry that she is “Cairns based.”

It is possibly the first documented example of someone choosing hell of wintry and icy Canberra over the heaven of the tropics in Cairns.

We say she lives in Canberra not just because of the poison dwarf Glenn Milne’s revelations yesterday that she spent 144 nights of 180 in the most recent reporting period in Canberra but because of a range of other evidence.

If we can find another 7 Senators we’ll be looking at decent representation on a par with Tasmania, although it would be nice to be able to vote for them…

Cairns is a hole. Nice place to visit, but that’s it.

Cairns is quite a nice place to live during the dry season and provided you’re far enough removed from the city centre and the hordes of backpackers and tourists. The northern beaches are perfect during the dry season. During the wet season, another story entirely though.

Maybe Jan has decided to spend the wet season in Canberra and return to the deep north for the far more pleasant dry season.

Cairns is humid and you can’t even swim in the sea. I know where I’d rather live, but apparently Canberra is Hell. It’s funny how these morons don’t say Yass is Hell, or Goulburn is Hell. Or Albury. They’ve probably never heard of them.

Meanwhile, Tasmania. I read somewhere that the ACT pays more total dollars in tax than Tasmania. Where’s our representation again?

Does no one care that Canberra is being referred to as Hell?

I suspect that Cairns may be hotter than Canberra, and would therefore think it to be more ‘hellish’ than a place where we keep the water in the lake instead of in the bloody air!

Honestly, the heat must go straight to their addled brains!

These rorts have always crossed party lines. Although, the newbie laborites seem to have an overwhelming sense of entitlement to taxpayer funded largesse.

Kev747 will bluster outrage to the meeja and send her to counselling.

mmm 144 times $200 per night (the o/n rate for pollies staying in Canberra) is a nice little tax free earner – and all the while her “home” in Cairns is being leased to one of her own staffers.

Rort anyone?

Pseudo: In your defence, it did actually originally read “senator” – it was only once I went to comment on the same thing that I noticed it had changed 🙂

Nevermind. Misread Parlimentarian as Senator.

Fifth? Did I miss something about 3 & 4?
