Former Young Australian of the Year, Hugh Evans, will be in Canberra on 11 August to launch the Global Poverty Project’s ‘1.4 Billion Reasons’.

Hugh and his team are visiting 40 cities as part of an Australia wide tour and their presentation is winning minds and hearts across the country.

Yay!! The fair trade stuff is really important.

I have found some really good fair trade products. They are harder to get, but worth every cent to know that people are being paid a fair wage for a fair day’s work.

We wouldn’t tolerate exploitation of workers in our own country. It’s time to insist that our companies are not allowed to exploit workers in other nations.

I don’t want little kids being sold into slavery to make my coffee and chocolate or to work in some brothel. I want them to go to school and be able to play and feel loved.

This is something simple we can all do that would make a huge difference.

Oh, and Canberra should be the first fair trade city! We should be leading the country in this.

I hope lots of people will go along and support the launch. Things like this are always so interesting. You learn so much!
