The Liberals’ Brendan Smyth has been handing out awards to the ten longest lived family businesses in Canberra.

We imagine there’s some historical interest in the list so they are:

    — Len Mutton & Co General Store
    — Cusacks Trading
    — C.C Jeffrey Ltd Tharwa General Store
    — Frawleys Shoes
    — R&R Fabric Care
    — McGlades Jewellers
    — Corkhill Bros
    — Canberra Recycling
    — Bink Concrete
    — NDH Property

No doubt registered for business as a bunch of shell corporations with ever changing names intended to take full advantage of any tax breaks and government grants/funding that comes along.

The Snow’s businesses, smartypants. If you want to correct grammar, learn the rules first.

Gees, at 30 years, I’m a youngster.

My dad was born here… He turns 80 next year.

What about John Watson Blinds and Awnings?

A quick look at the actual press release, shows its just a thinly veiled political ad for a fellow party candidate.. who also doesnt actually live in Canberra.

A shame Smyth doesn’t care so much for widows in his press releases.

Am I right in thinking Len Mutton & Co is in Braidwood? Braidwood!

I was wondering why I’d never heard of Len Mutton & Co General Store, until I googled it, and discovered it’s in Braidwood. So is Braidwood officially part of Canberra now?

The Snow’s what?

Where are the Snow’s? And Leo’s cafe in Civic surely morphed into Greek Development
