Canny fingers - sports physio recommendation in Canberra

Astress has a new astromonkey on the way and in her increasingly [as it were] delicate state she is keen to have an ankle, which has a tendency to give way on unstable ground a little too often for her liking, sorted out before she has a fall with either astromonkey on board, to their (and/or her) detriment…

So, does anyone have recommendations – preferably northside, but she’ll of course travel for quality service – for a sports physio, or other valid, efficacious treatments for such a condition? where are the canniest fingers doing their magic, eh?

I found the good folk at Capital Clinic most excellent. http://www.capitalclinicphysio.com.au/

+1 (I reccommend Matt)

If you are looking for a sports physcian Dr Mark Porter at the Calvary Clinic is excellent.

Craig Wisdom at Kingston for sports stuff. And Bronwyn Ackerman for overuse/musician-type injuries.

Berg Physio.

Sigi Schoenborn at Sport & Spinal Physiotherapy in Gungahlin is very good. I’ve seen him a couple of times recently to sort out a shoulder/neck complaint.

thanks, rioters. we’ll check out your recommendations – but keep ’em coming; always good to have the hive mind distilled for bottling later on… 🙂

The guys at Powerhouse Physio are really good and most are sports physios looking after the hockey teams or local rugby teams. I can recommend Ryan, despite the Kiwi accent 😉 Good luck!

Err, sounds like she needs to see a sports doctor rather than a physio. Whilst I’m not a doctor, I have had an ankle rebuilt and to me it sounds like Astress’ ligaments need fixing!

As far as sports physios go – the Turner Sports Medicine Centre is where I go (though haven’t been there in ages) – they’re great all round. They’ve been around for a VERY long time and in my experience will tell you when they can help you and when they can’t. Graeme Backen is the guy I use there.

Look up Dr Augustine (Gus) Oon – he’s a sports doctor and has orthapedic experience to boot. Nice bloke and knows his stuff very well. He used to have a clinic up in Calvary Clinic or round near the hospital up at Bruce.

You’ll get excellent service at The Sports Medicine Centre, they are in Turner and Tuggeranong. http://www.sportsmedicinecentre.com.au
