Can't even build a fire shed?

Brendan Smyth is revelling in Labor discomfort over the rural fire shed for Jerrabomberra being built too small to get in and out of the trucks when parked inside.

“This is just the latest embarrassing infrastructure delivery error for ACT Labor Minister Simon Corbell, who was forced to admit the project wasn’t up to scratch and that remedial work would be extremely expensive,” Mr Smyth said.

Already years behind schedule the Minister told the Estimates committee the alternative for volunteers was to park the station’s vehicles outside the $800,000 purpose built shed.

It makes one wonder about the processes used.

Not being able to build a shed which fits the vehicles, when the single requirement of the project was to build a shed to fit the vehicles, is pretty much the ultimate project management fail.

Does anyone have a picture? I have a brilliant idea for a demotivational poster!

This abject failure reminds me of when the ACT Government rolled out the Crisis21 payroll system. At least this screw-up only totals $800k. So far.

……….and the Canberra community are more than happy to have their money squandered by these twits by voting them and the Greens back in time after time. Who are the real twits?

It can’t get much worse that the current group of dummies.

You clearly haven’t seen the alternative…

I think that argument is ridiculous. “Hey, let’s keep the current group of idiots who have PROVEN time, and time again that they can’t govern properly, just in case the alternative is worse”.

I don’t think it is ridiculous to look at the lazy, ineffective Opposition and reach the conclusion that they could not possibly do a better job.

However, I do believe it is reckless to immediately assume that the opposition could do a better job based on nothing other than the fact that they are different.

If you are having any problems with you car in the future, get in touch and I will arrange a swap for you – you can take a chance on the unknown…

I’d rather take a chance on the unknown (who, quite frankly, would have to be extraordinary hopeless to be anywhere near as bad as the current government), than endure further proven incompetence.

. Maybe the libs would be worse, and maybe they would be better. There’s no way of knowing.

And therein lies the problem, they are a lazy, ineffective opposition and have not shown the people of the ACT that they present a better alternative – one can only assume that if there was a transition of power they would simply be a lazy ineffective Government.

However we do know the current liberal leadership is very lazy.

There’s some pretty rushed judgements around here. Maybe the libs would be worse, and maybe they would be better. There’s no way of knowing. I can’t even think what they could do that is worse than the current mob.

If Labor know that it doesn’t basly they govern because the fans will keep cheering no matter what, then they have no incentive ever to manage something as simple as building a fire shed that fits a truck.

I am absolutely sure that who is in government does not affect the stupidity of who is working in their departments. This just illustrates the growing tendency to have people in offices making decisions with no real experience of the things they’re making decisions about. So they probably got the dimensions of the trucks, satisfied themselves that the bays of the shed were the right size, and never thought of people moving around the trucks in the shed, opening doors etc.

You see this kind of thing more and more. People who live in highly managed city environments, with no experience of nutting things out for themselves.

Calling the electorate idiots is rarely a good tactic for convincing them.

Come on!!! Yes, negative sentiment regarding the Libs is sometimes justified but nothing can be less palatable than the current bunch of morons. What a pathetic notion, after so many years of incompetence to continue to say that there is no alternative, when, in the light of such hopelessness, the alternative has not been given an opportunity to prove themselves.

Again I say, a badly needed turnover in candidates will not occur until there is a change of Government.

Who are the twits? Wrong answer JB.
