I would imagine the food available at the launch of a food cookbook would be quite good right?

We’ve mentioned the Capital Cookbook before, but we’ve just gotten a bunch of details about the event and I am currently feeling very hungry so everything about this is very appealing to me..

To celebrate the release of the Capital Cookbook II, a hard cover, coffee-table style cookbook featuring recipes from 26 of Canberra’s best restaurants, an open event will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday the 17th October on the Terrace of the National Library of Australia.

Amongst a suite of canapés from restaurants featured in the book – including Courgette, The Ottoman, Sage, Aubergine, Silo, Waters Edge and many more – Member for Canberra – Gai Brodtmann will officially launch the publication, which is a striking insight into Canberra’s dynamic food scene.

With stunning photography of the Canberra region, and with features on regional producers and some of Canberra’s favourite landmarks including the War Memorial, the Portrait Gallery, the Arboretum and many more, The Capital Cookbook II is a celebration of the nation’s capital in its centenary year.

The book is also a tribute to the founder of Quicksand Publishing and Canberra business woman Zorana Grbic, who lost her life to ovarian cancer in 2009. Author Stefan Posthuma-Grbic, son of Zorana, has linked the project to ovarian cancer research fundraising.

Donations from restaurants involved in the book have already amounted to over $10,000 with a further $2 from each publication sold going directly to Ovarian Cancer Australia. Thursday’s launch event will also be a fundraiser for the charity organisation.

As Ovarian Cancer Australia’s ambassador in Canberra, Gai Brodtmann said it will be an honour to launch The Capital Cookbook II, “a wonderful celebration of Canberra and its fantastic food culture in our 100th year.”

“This is such a worthy cause and I would encourage all food-lovers in Canberra to come along, sample some of Canberra’s best food and wine, and give generously in support of ovarian cancer research,” she said.

The Capital Cookbook II is now available in all good Canberra bookshops and also online via www.quicksandpublishing.com.au. All media and Canberra foodies are invited to attend.
