A colleague of mine just returned from lunch telling me that work on some pavement in the city walk / garema place area has caused a pipe to burst.

The result being a huge waterspout – anyone got any pics?

I am assuming that all those businesses that were near and closed got some form of compensation for losing customers? Although they should have kept the carousel open, it would make it feel like we were visiting dreamworld.

To recieve compensation – they’d have to prove how the incident caused them to lose customers and how much in sales that was lost. Statements from customers saying they wouldn’t go in cause of the water etc – but then if those customers where to come back later, when everything had been fixed – they didn’t lose the customer afterall.

They’re thinking of installing sea horses on the merry-go-round as of late yesterday afternoon.

I feel the need to write ‘Fail’ next to each of those pictures

That first pic from toriness: very nice! That water jet actually quite improves the look of Garema place.

Can’t anyone see the significance? 911 coincidental timing… This was obviously a New Zealand terrorist attack…. they were trying to drown Canberra.

Quick lets go invade New Zealand … http://invadenewzealand.com/
I’m sure there will be some sort of WMD we can find there to justify invasion.

*chuckle*

One of my favourite books is “The Book of Heroic Failures”, and I just love it when somebody does something so magnificently and gloriously incompetent!

: )

Well done that fool!!

Doh!!!

Half an hour plus of water splooshing all over the place must be cause for us to go to level 4 water restrictions though!

And right on cue, it’s just stopped!

Got a superb picture from the sixth floor here, but sadly no camera.

What’s especially nice is the symmetry of the real Captain Cook Fountain making a similar arc and spray in the background. I dread to think what it’s like on the ground near the little version — must be satched (picked that word up from the kids) Must have been going for about half an hour now. Would look superb if you work in Garema Court.

Just for an extra bit of something, I’m told the spout is just outside the entrance to ACTEWAGL (don’t quote me).
