Car thief steals police vehicle to escape custody

ACT Policing are on the hunt for an alleged car thief who managed to evade capture by stealing a police vehicle in O’Connor last night (Wednesday, 9 March).

Police say, about 7:15 pm, officers attempted to arrest two people over a suspected car theft. However, during the arrest one of the alleged offenders escaped by stealing a police vehicle.

The alleged perpetrator drove off in the police car but then abandoned it a short distance away, stealing another vehicle to make good their escape.

One person remains in custody and police have recovered all three stolen vehicles.

A police investigation of the incident has begun.

Soft on crime, soft on drugs, understaffed police force, and the result is drug fuelled “ganstas” marauding the city. I hope the idealists who run the government stop to reconsider their position when incidents such as this occur.

Haven’t you heard that Labor backbencher Michael Pettersson has tabled a bill to reduce penalties in the ACT for those caught with ice, heroin or MDMA from jail to a $100 fine? The ACT Government is about to get a whole lot softer on hard drugs.

Given most meth heads couldn’t pay $100 unless they stole it, there’s no point in finding them. Just means some other poor soul gets carjacked, bike stolen, house breakin or mugged.

Heck just give the ice out for free.

What isn’t being reported here (but on ABC 666) was that the second car was allegedly hijacked from a woman. That’s a lot different to just “stealing” another car.

hijacking is far more serious than stealing….too right

what do you expect….one party territory…
