ACT Policing are on the hunt for an alleged car thief who managed to evade capture by stealing a police vehicle in O’Connor last night (Wednesday, 9 March).
Police say, about 7:15 pm, officers attempted to arrest two people over a suspected car theft. However, during the arrest one of the alleged offenders escaped by stealing a police vehicle.
The alleged perpetrator drove off in the police car but then abandoned it a short distance away, stealing another vehicle to make good their escape.
One person remains in custody and police have recovered all three stolen vehicles.
A police investigation of the incident has begun.
