ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to multiple incidents of vehicle damage that occurred in Tuggeranong early this morning (Tuesday, July 9).

Around 12.15am, two males were leaving the car park at Reed Street in Greenway (opposite Tuggeranong Hyperdome) when they were approached by two males from a vehicle (described as an older maroon coloured Holden Commodore) parked nearby. The males demanded the driver hand over his keys and kicked his car when he refused and drove off.

Around 1.50am, a young male sleeping in his car on Falconer Street in Monash was awoken to find a vehicle (described as similar to a dark-coloured older model Ford Falcon) parked behind. Four or five males approached his vehicle demanding his wallet and phone. When the young male refused they jumped on the bonnet and kicked in the windscreen at which point the young male left his car and fled on foot.

No items were stolen and the young male was unharmed. The four or five males are described as around 18 years of age, Caucasian with skinny builds.

Around 2.20am, a young male was sleeping in his car in the car park of the Burns Club in Kent Street, Kambah when he was awoken to find a vehicle (a maroon-coloured VR/VS Holden Commodore) with four males parked beside him. The young male spoke to the occupants of the second car briefly before walking off. When he returned, he found his wallet missing and when he threatened to call police he was assaulted by the males from the second car who also damaged his car before driving off.

Anyone who may have witnessed or have information relating to any of the three incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

why didn’t the dude in his car in Monash drive away, instead of fleeing on foot?

Just maybe he had had too many alcoholic beverages and did not want to drive in that state. Possibly why he was sleeping in his car.

Just because we’re doing well on crime statistics overall doesn’t mean we should sit out this wave of vandalism and thuggery. Some of this is quite terrifying as well.

The more they get away with it the more they’ll do it and sooner or later something is going to go worse than reported so far. Hell with statistics, catch the bastards, right down to zero.
