Carney to try his luck in the US of A?

Thumper 22 February 2009 17

RiotACT favourite Todd Carney is obviously finding that life is quite tough when you have to work for a living. And so, with that in mind, the SMH is reporting that he may take off to the US of A to play american football.

Frankly, I cannot see this happening.

[ED – Can’t see the US Embassy taking kindly to his visa application]

I guess he could play quater back, haha! Though what is he, 5’9, average American Football player is 6’3.
He’d have zero chance of getting into America if he can’t get into the UK.

He should get a proper job for a year, tool!

Your average S14 2nd rower is a good 6’5″-6’6″. Doesn’t stop little guys like Git from dominating. Carney’s size is irrelevant, being as he tackles guys without pads and makes them actually stop as opposed to a shoulder charge

It depends on the position you play.

I can’t see him breaking into anything at the elite level.

Maybe we should tip off the US Dept of Homeland Security that he’s a fundamentalist of some sort?

Who cares? Maybe he’ll be the victim of a drive-by p**sing? Now THAT would be funny. Given the current financial situation over there, he might be getting a more realistic wage too. F**kin waster!

Don’t you need to be able to play a sport before declaring that you are going to more to another country to play it?

Punters and kickers are often recuited from other codes. Ancient AFL players occasionally go for NFL trials in a not contact kicking role. The AFL also picks up ex Gallic football players from Ireland and most recently the Swans drafted Mike Pyke, a Canadian rugby international.

Though there is little chance of him being picked up by any team in the US unless he’s willing to give up all dreams of Rugby League all together.
