When former Canberra Raiders star player Todd Carney was run out of town on a rail departed these regions for the greener pastures of the Cape York Peninsula many wondered how long it would be before the cowboys of North Queensland administered their own more direct form of justice on the little fella.
The Herald Sun (always devoted Carney-watchers) brings word that Todd’s been in the anticipated bit of bother early on Sunday morning on Atherton’s main street:
- The alleged attackers, aged 19, 21, 23, 25, have been charged with public nuisance, and will appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on June 2.
Carney, who now plays for Atherton-based team, the Roosters, has been involved in numerous off-field incidents and has chosen not to press assault charges over the incident.
Aside from a black eye our hero is otherwise OK and still right to play for Atherton against Tully on Saturday.
