Hi,

Can anyone recommend any businesses/tradies who can supply and install new carpet in a three bedroom plus study house? Most of the recommendation threads appear to be on tiling/floorboards.

Thanks,

Ashley

We just used Carpet Factory in Fyshwick again for carpets and flooring and a long chat with the owner. With the crazy things happening in 2020 he said trade was quiet for their installers but DIY was very busy.
As their installers and products are great I said I would write a review because I really think they deserve the work. Here goes.

After moving, selling, investing and helping out family over the years we have done so many flooring projects with Carpet Factory it’s a blur. However, each time we used them we found this local family business to be wonderful. The various carpet and flooring layers on all occasions have been excellent, polite and friendly. Workmanship was A+++. We had a recent nightmare install experiences from another “store” near by that we used when the Carpet Factory was closed over Christmas, was the biggest mistake ever. Horrible work and quality. We should have waited.
Anyway, we are glad we returned to the Carpet Factory. You would be crazy not to try them out. Highly recommended and quality products/work. Contact details are Carpet Factory Wholesale Retail Flooring 67 Wollongong St, Fyshwick ACT 2609 http://www.carpetfactory.com.au/

I should also mention for DIY people like me, the Carpet Factory also make some great DIY flooring. Timber flooring, carpet tiles, hybrid click and vinyl flooring. We have tried them all with great results. Prices are great with big savings because of wholesale/no middle man pricing. Quality also far far better to all others stores for the price.
Every visit over the years there seems to be something new they have come up with that’s perfect for our next job. Water proof hybrid floors, luxurious cushion carpet tiles and so on. So recommended to both home renovators and people who want floors installed and installed well.

We’ve just had 3 bedrooms, hallway, dining, and lounge carpeted. We took Genie’s recommendation and used Carpet One at Mitchell. They were fantastic and our house great. Brett, the carpet layer, did a wonderful job – he was so fast and we couldn’t fault his work at all. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Hi Have had to do a bit of carpet laying lately. I have used J and M Floor Coverings in Weston Creek We have also had them lay laminate wood flooring in a few rooms of our own house . They did a great job. Lovely people. Only had one issue the guys that lay the carpet last time left a lot of carpet and underlay fluff and bits all through the area , 4 bedrooms and a hallway . I did complain , they were good tho’ and came straight way to check ,apologized and offered to send some one to vacuum the next day but I had tenants moving the next day so at 6pm I was vacuuming. I couldn’t wait to give them time to come back . Ron Firth in Yass is supposed to be good but he doesn’t do Kambah. I am currently getting an extra quote, for a property in Kambah, from Endeavor because interestingly, Ron Firth recommended J and M or Endeavor. I’ll try to remember to come back here and post how I went with this job for others.

@mummy

Sounds like a terrible experience and not dissimilar to our own. Do you remember the carpet layer’s name? Were you ever able to remedy the situation or are you now stuck with poorly laid carpets?

Thanks 🙂

Hello RiotAct minds,
Has any one used B.M.S Floor Coverings 0401256721 or All Hard Floor & Carpet Installations 0404158489?
Care to share any feedback?

Lemon’s in Fyshwick did a great job and a great deal for us.

I’ve used Lemon’s for several renovation jobs over past few years, mainly in investment properties but once in my own home, and I found them really good. Well priced, well organised, and they take direction well. A number of builders I know use them as well.

Hi. We’ve had carpets laid in two houses now. In the first house we used Endeavour Carpets and I would recommend them highly. For the second house we went with Walker’s Carpets out of Belconnen and it was terrible. We laid the carpets right after the fires at Mitchell and found out later that the warehouse where they store the carpets was two doors down. No mention of this and still don’t know if the carpets are 100%. Not only this but the carpet layer they hired was terrible. He took a seriously long time and I even had to kick him out of our empty house at 2 am as he was sleeping there. We had to get someone back to fix the carpets 4 times as the job was done poorly and they kept sending the same guy. We finally got the job tidied up but now a couple of years later and the carpets are bubbling up at the edges of the room.
We only went with Walker’s as they had bamboo flooring and Endeavour didn’t stock them at the time. Next time I’ll stick with Endeavour regardless. You don’t know how good something is until you truly see how bad someone else could be. After two renos now my motto is if they did a good job for you before then stick with them and don’t try someone new just to mix things up.

Carpet One at Mitchell are great.

…so good that I recommended them twice.

sorry guys, technical issue…or maybe user incompetence issue.
