There’s nothing like a proper rant, emd!

*chuckle*

Granny, my comment about pissing on other people’s work was directed at the whingers who were having a go at the event being targeted at women. I should have put it all into one long paragraph, like a proper rant should be 🙂

Well if its designed for those with young kids, it kind of misses the mark there too… how anyone is supposed to enjoy massage or cardmaking with highly active Bubba Igglepiggle aged 3 in tow is beyond me. If there was a creche I could see it being great for that audience however

I’m pleased for you, emd, and I hope you have a great time. I’m not trying to piss on anything. I didn’t realise it was designed for mothers of very young children, that’s all.

Actually, suits some of us with kids quite well. My only daytime napper prefers to sleep in the morning, when most activities targeting my demographic are scheduled.

As for the blokes whingeing that it’s an event aimed at women, you’re a bunch of brain-dead culturally ignorant wankers. I realise that Riot-Act is the local, online equivalent of the 1970’s Oz magazine (ie gutsy independent media, reflective of its sexist sub-culture), so I expected those comments when I clicked through to read this story. Did none of you notice the news reports from White Ribbon Day on the 25th? Women are STILL being raped, bashed, and discriminated against when accessing goods and services on the basis of their gender… So of course there is a Human Rights Day event targeting women. Especially the ones with partners and kids, who may well want some info on domestic violence, or on raising their children to respect the rights of others.

I expect there are lots of Human Rights Day events happening around Canberra, all targeting different demographics. Think there’s a lack of events for your particular group? Then get off your bum and organise something, and stop pissing on other people’s work.

I’m sure they’d let me in – no wymin can withstand the power of Brut33 mixed with Blue Stratos!

If you only had on Old Spice, you’d be a shoo-in…

Many mothers with little kids have at least one child to collect from school or preschool at that time, Sepi.

I just think it’s unfortunate, because I do try and turn up to things promoted on RiotACT if I can, and I would have come along to support this event and probably also enjoyed myself.

I was really just giving some feedback that may be constructive for planning future events.

I think they’ve timed it to suit their target market of women with little kids.
Who will probably enjoy cardmaking.

And who can’t get out to the theatre/dinner etc, like all the rest of you, who feel so aggrieved to be excluded from such an event.

I’ll wander up to see the lard dancing and hope lots of blokes turn up with their kiddies while mum’s doing the shopping (just to exercise their human rights).

I’m getting moist thinking about the card making!

All I can smell is the typical sexist bull$hit of excluding people because of their gender.

I think I can smell that Brut33 mixed with Blue Stratos all the way from Gungahlin … must resist irresistable compulsion to don Girl Friday outfit and swim through Lake Burley Griffin ….

We’ll treat you like a schoolgirl at Summernats, Mr Evil!! 😉

I’m sure they’d let me in – no wymin can withstand the power of Brut33 mixed with Blue Stratos!

I would have to take a wild guess and say no ….

So old blokes with no kids are not welcome?

Shooters is the place for you, Pandy.

I can’t think those times would suit the career woman wonderfully well, either – breeder or non-breeder!

Incredibly sexist to make it women only.
Women were aloud to partake in the movember stuff.

It must be a breeder thing. When they say “women”, they mean “breeding females”. Actually, it usually means that.

I would pretty much kill for the massage, but hopefully they wouldn’t want me to bellydance!

: P

Is it during the holidays? Otherwise it’s the worst timing for mothers with children at school. I would never be able to go to anything scheduled for those times unless Gramps took time off work.

Belly dancing, massage and CARDMAKING?! Oh my god.

I guess it’s on a par with Clowns, Facepainting and Jumping Castle.
