Kites will fill the skies on Saturday 1 June at Belconnen Arts Centre’s Wind Air Water Centenary kites festival at Lake Ginninderra.

All ages will be entertained with kite making master-classes, face painting and watching the flying of dozens of community kites made by groups, businesses and organisations over the past six months.

Bring along your own kite to fly during the day, and hear the Royal Aeronautical Society explain and give demonstrations on kite flying using the magic of wind and air.

Lively music from local musicians Kooky Fandango and RAAN will provide a backdrop to the festival. The entire event will be MC’d by performer Maximus the Magnificent (Mark Johnson), and a range of food will be available to purchase including soup, sausage sizzles, Vietnamese food and gelato.

Wind Air Water is on at the Belconnen Arts Centre, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen from 11am – 3pm on Saturday 1 June. Entry is free. Check out the timetable of events. It is proudly supported by the ACT Government’s Community Centenary Initiatives Fund.

Wind Air Water will proceed regardless of the weather, with an indoors display and parade of kites in the event of rain.
