Change of use fees outrage Liberals

Zed Seselja is beating his breast for the newly discovered renters he says will be smitten by a Green/Labor deal to get some money out of developer windfalls when they get their lease purpose clauses changed.

“In supporting Labor’s massive tax on units, the Greens have agreed to tens of thousands of dollars more tax per unit on development,” Zed said.

“These massive increases in cost will be passed onto buyers and renters, and potentially stifle the increase in density around major centres – the very areas that will increase Canberrans amenity and better transport options.

“In a now common tactic, the Greens will look for any small concession to support bad Labor policy. Last time it was the three month trial of the nightrider service to support flawed liquor licensing, this time its energy efficiency measures for a broad tax on units – A piecemeal approach to a complex problem.

This is in response to the Greens oblique media release this morning where they called for reduced fees for buildings which suit their ideology.
