Canberra’s TransACT based local TV service Channelvision has announced that they’re going to be taking Canberra to the rest of the nation.

From July 5th 2009 Channelvision will broadcast Nationally on Aurora (Foxtel, Austar, OptusTV platforms) a half hour magazine styled programme on Canberra, each Sunday evening at 7.30pm and repeated each Wednesday evening at 9.30pm. The National Broadcast platform allows Channelvision to reach a potential audience of 9 million Australians twice a week. The programme content will provide a unique and valuable promotional asset to the ACT and Region, showcasing the Nation through the eyes of it’s Capital.

citing ‘kanga cup’ would lead one to assume the more universal form of the usage ‘football’, so neither… good upon channelvision, they do some interesting things now and again.

🙂 Any besides, ChannelVision have been very good to football and Capital Football covering our grand finals, the Kanga Cup and even our presentation night.

“Football?” Would that be rugby league or union?

Never heard of it either. Of course, don’t have pay tv…

You mean you’ve never watched Classic Resto’s on Channel Vision? – by far the best show on TV!

Channelvision. Never heard of it!

Where have I been?!

I attended the launch last night rubbing shoulders with RiotACT’s Jazz and other Canberra dignitaries.

Former 60 Minutes reporter, Ian Leslie OAM, was the special guest and he was joined by Annette Ellis MP, Senator Gary Humphries and MLA’s Zed Seselja, Mary Porter and Joy Burch. Coralie Wood OAM was also there looking as glamorous as ever while Capital Football was represented by its CEO Heather Reid.

ChannelVision have come along way and now are based on the 10th Floor of the Eclipse Building in the city with panoramic views of Canberra.

One statistic that really stood out on the night was that the channel receives 450,000 viewers per month through its email site.

It’s good news for Canberra that the new national link will expose Canberra to potentially 9 million viewers nationally.

Considering the arrogance that Prime, Southern Cross, SBS and ABC TV reflect on Canberra local content we should give ChannelVison as much support as possible. They are also giving a number of young people straight out of University a career in television.
