Charity Fundraiser Locations?

I am currently working for a not-for profit charity organisation and I am in charge for the fundraising events for 2009.

We are going to hold the ever popular sausage sizzle (but with roast rolls) in early 2009. I am aware that businesses like Hravey Norman and Bunnings have allocated spots in their car parks for such events but these spots are booked up until late 2009.

Does anyone know of any similar locations that would be suitable to hold a fundraiser?

(I am aware of the application forms needed to use a public place)

Definitely check out the local farmers and craft markets. Some will turn you down on the grounds that they already have a similar event booked, but they’re all frequented by lots of people in the mood for spending.

Ever tried any of the colleges? I’m sure their cafeteria staff would enjoy a break and the students might enjoy something other than the usual fare.

Hi CHILVC. Raising shiploads of cash for charity causes in single events has been my stock-in-trade for the past 16 years. If you’d like to have a chat and get me on board (or even just pick my brains) send your details through to me via Johnboy and I’m happy to catch up if you’re interested.

Magnet Mart @ Gungahlin has regular weekend BBQ lunches run by different groups, try contacting the store manager and see what’s involved.

What about at markets??

Basically anywhere that has a high volume of people on weekend mornings that does not have food easily available. Hardware stores are great.

It might seem a bit odd, but the BBQ at Revolve always does a good business.

Try the Linear Park on Gungahlin Place – town centre location great for a Saturday.

Mate, I think provided you get approval from Urban Services you can do it anywhere. What you need to do is get an ‘application for approval to use a public place’ from them (you may even be able to download one from their site, definitely worth checking to save some time). It’s a one-page form you fill out where you specify where you want to hold the event, and what the event actually will be, it’s pretty simple but may get a little more complicated if you are trying to sell something at the location (I’m not too sure how it works when you are taking money at the event).

I reckon if you get in nice and early you wont have any problems, I’m pretty sure they might be able to help you out with some suggested locations too.

You probably already know, but think about pay week timing if you are targeting workers at lunchtime.

The major suburban Shopping Centers (like Southlands, Kambah Village, Jamieson Centre] often host Sausage Sizzles and other fete-like activities.

I have often thought one in the Carpark at Rodney’s in Fyshwick would do well.

Well the Lukemia Foundation is outside of Cox Kelly (Opposite Uni Pub) today at lunch – they seem to be doing well.

Recommend it on a weekday though, you get all the construction workers in the area.
