Community park to honour former Chief Minister – Jon Stanhope, MLA

That’s a headline guaranteed to catch your eye when browsing through the RSS feeds from the ACT Government!

But before people go getting all wound up, it was just a quirk of the way they format their media release posts.

Seems Mr Stanhope was actually renaming a park to celebrate the former (and second – 1989-1991) ACT Chief Minister and Member for Brindabella Trevor Kaine.

The Trevor Kaine Community Park is located at the intersection of Lundie and Helpmann Streets in Bonython West.

The headline above (in the post – not the thread title) is exactly how it comes up in Google Reader. Sure got my attention! It was too good to let pass…!

R. Slicker, look out for the Al Grassby park. There’ll be a corner set aside for growing dope.

All Bonythonites should go have a beer at the ‘Trev right now.

As an ex-Bonythonite, trust me – they already do.

And at the picnic tables on Don Dunstan Drive
And in the school carpark
And in the carpark at the shops
And in the underpasses..

Good one Al.

Boy! Trevor Kaine Park near Helpmann St and Don Dunstan Drive. Who would have thought it. If only they could establish a Fred Nile Park or Jim Wallace Park there as well it would really make my day!

Well done Al… ensuring your posts get increased readership!

All Bonythonites should go have a beer at the ‘Trev right now.

Wow! For a minute there I hoped that there was good news about Sonic. But then, we’d get Katie wouldn’t we, so we’d be no further ahead.
