Chiefly support for crackers

The Canberra Times reports that Jon Stanhope has come out as the first ACT politician to publicly state in principle support for a continued legal fireworks regime.

    Mr Stanhope said he had traditionally been more for the regulated use of fireworks, rather than for an outright ban, but the Government would look at all the information from last weekend before making a decision.

    His personal position had been ”one of seeking to maintain an opportunity for people to use fireworks responsibly”. But Mr Stanhope said the Government would reconsider that position, as it had done after every June long weekend.

It will get very interesting to see what John Hargreaves does now.

Goose = name/nature.

Not getting your own way, hurts, eh? I suggest lying on the floor while flailing arms and legs. Have a nice day:)

I’d suggest the amount of fireworks let off over this past weekend would have been markedly lower had it not been for the imminent ending so strongly proposed by Hargreaves.

+1 to that thought.

Congrats to Jon on his more reasoned stance. Even John Hargreaves was forced to sheepishly concede behaviour had markedly improved. But the disgraceful treatment of his kitten over a decade ago continues to be his primary driver…

I’d suggest the amount of fireworks let off over this past weekend would have been markedly lower had it not been for the imminent ending so strongly proposed by Hargreaves.

And I note that apart from a couple of pops over 5 minutes on Monday night, there hasn’t been a single breach in Harrison since.

I note the Chief Minister waited until “after the weekend” to state his position.

Hargraeves made it perfectly clear that Party solidarity is more important to him than principle. He would never vote with the Liberals against Labor.

Not that that is surprising as it has been that way with the ALP for 100 years. The truly sad thing is that individual conscience is dead in the Liberal Party too.

waiting for news of hargreaves binge.
