Child porn in the prison

By johnboy - 21 December 2012 89

Just what sort of den of iniquity have we created out at the Monaro Marriott?

The ABC has a story on child smut raids conducted at the Alexander Maconochie Centre:

Detectives searched the jail on Tuesday.

They seized several items, including computers and video recorders, suspected to contain images of child abuse.

Digital forensic specialists have been called in to examine the devices.

Corrections Minister Shane Rattenbury says a number of detainees are under investigation.

Mayor Rattenbury, one imagines, will be thanking his Labor colleagues for offloading the prison onto him post election.

What’s Your opinion?

If you did so much research, then you would know the criteria a laptop needs to meet to e allowed to be called a ultra book.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultrabook

And Ultrabooks are just one out of several categories of “laptop”, so even if one were to accept it is a well-defined catergory (because of control of the term by Intel), that doesn’t answer the poor definition of the others I listed.

Screen shots will never go away, Irish Pete.

And what you mean made up names? To be called a ultra book you need to meet a criteria.

Laptops, notebooks, netbooks, ultrabooks. All different words meaning the same thing – they’re marketing words, not descriptive words. Wikipedia tries to define these terms and a whole lot more, but not very successfully by my reading of it.

IP.

But they do not mean the same thing.
Using your logic for a random couple of things off the top of my head, cars should not say wether the are 4/6/8 cylinder and that no one should advertise free range chicken or pork.

As stated, they are marketing words. They have no consistent definition.

Just some friendly advice, maybe do one research before commenting on something you clearly have no idea about.

Did so. If Wikipedia can’t give coherent definitions of each, then I think I’m in good company. Wikipedia quotes CNET in relation to Netbooks and Notebooks thus “the only conclusion is that there really is no distinction between the devices”. Wikipedia says that Ultrabook is a trademark of Intel – trademark, i.e. marketing. Do I need to go on?

The comparison with the number of cylinders a car has is not sensible – the number of cylinders is quantifiable, and is more comparable with say the processor speed or amount of RAM or hard disc size in a computer. Free range meat? Well, there’s another marketing term, which is largely unregulated, so that’s a fair analogy. Have a look for the recent news story on Pepe’s Duck, although they were smarter than to try to use the term “free range” and instead used “Open Range”.

No chain gangs.. But I do quite like the old Alcatraz way of approved reading material and nothing but shoosh. Hehe

We could put them to work inside the prison, running on giant hamster wheels to generate electricity. It’s win/win!

Like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treadwheel you mean?

Prison should be hard, so they won’t want to go back there, so much for human rights, they don’t deserve luxuries, I’m talking about murderers, paedophiles, rapists, I believe that they should be in a chain gang working on the roads and other area’s that need work done, they should earn their keep. Just how much is spent keeping these creatures of the taxpayers money, they are just human excrement that needs flushing away.

Great idea – would you like a dozen murderers, rapists and paedophiles chained together working on the road outside your house?

And you’d have to surround them with lots of guards with guns to stop them escaping or killing each other or passers-by, or their friends coming up and giving them things they shouldn’t have.

At a rough guess about 30 of the near-300 people in the AMC are convicted “murderers, rapists and paedophiles”, so do you have any ideas for the other 250 armed robbers, burglars, car thieves, drug dealers, and of course the one-third who are on remand and are therefore innocent until proven guilty?
