Child porn in the prison

By johnboy 21 December 2012 89

Just what sort of den of iniquity have we created out at the Monaro Marriott?

The ABC has a story on child smut raids conducted at the Alexander Maconochie Centre:

Detectives searched the jail on Tuesday.

They seized several items, including computers and video recorders, suspected to contain images of child abuse.

Digital forensic specialists have been called in to examine the devices.

Corrections Minister Shane Rattenbury says a number of detainees are under investigation.

Mayor Rattenbury, one imagines, will be thanking his Labor colleagues for offloading the prison onto him post election.

If you did so much research, then you would know the criteria a laptop needs to meet to e allowed to be called a ultra book.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultrabook

And Ultrabooks are just one out of several categories of “laptop”, so even if one were to accept it is a well-defined catergory (because of control of the term by Intel), that doesn’t answer the poor definition of the others I listed.

And what you mean made up names? To be called a ultra book you need to meet a criteria.

Laptops, notebooks, netbooks, ultrabooks. All different words meaning the same thing – they’re marketing words, not descriptive words. Wikipedia tries to define these terms and a whole lot more, but not very successfully by my reading of it.

IP.

But they do not mean the same thing.
Using your logic for a random couple of things off the top of my head, cars should not say wether the are 4/6/8 cylinder and that no one should advertise free range chicken or pork.

As stated, they are marketing words. They have no consistent definition.

Just some friendly advice, maybe do one research before commenting on something you clearly have no idea about.

Did so. If Wikipedia can’t give coherent definitions of each, then I think I’m in good company. Wikipedia quotes CNET in relation to Netbooks and Notebooks thus “the only conclusion is that there really is no distinction between the devices”. Wikipedia says that Ultrabook is a trademark of Intel – trademark, i.e. marketing. Do I need to go on?

The comparison with the number of cylinders a car has is not sensible – the number of cylinders is quantifiable, and is more comparable with say the processor speed or amount of RAM or hard disc size in a computer. Free range meat? Well, there’s another marketing term, which is largely unregulated, so that’s a fair analogy. Have a look for the recent news story on Pepe’s Duck, although they were smarter than to try to use the term “free range” and instead used “Open Range”.

We could put them to work inside the prison, running on giant hamster wheels to generate electricity. It’s win/win!

Like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treadwheel you mean?

Prison should be hard, so they won’t want to go back there, so much for human rights, they don’t deserve luxuries, I’m talking about murderers, paedophiles, rapists, I believe that they should be in a chain gang working on the roads and other area’s that need work done, they should earn their keep. Just how much is spent keeping these creatures of the taxpayers money, they are just human excrement that needs flushing away.

Great idea – would you like a dozen murderers, rapists and paedophiles chained together working on the road outside your house?

And you’d have to surround them with lots of guards with guns to stop them escaping or killing each other or passers-by, or their friends coming up and giving them things they shouldn’t have.

At a rough guess about 30 of the near-300 people in the AMC are convicted “murderers, rapists and paedophiles”, so do you have any ideas for the other 250 armed robbers, burglars, car thieves, drug dealers, and of course the one-third who are on remand and are therefore innocent until proven guilty?

There will soon come a time, if it hasn’t come already, when people won’t know what a screen shot is, or how to take one.

I still have a “print screen” function on my keyboard, but I wonder if there is such a function on tablets (I can barely drive my iPad so I wouldn’t know about it) and those very small laptops which have made-up names like netbooks or ultrabooks.

Taking a photo of your screen will probably be the only way to do it soon, but I wonder will an iPad take a photo of its own screen, or would that cause an endless loop and the end of the world as we know it?

Okay, happy to have been proven wrong about screen shots. Apparently they’ll be with us for a while yet.

I know I can do it on my Android phone as I keep accidentally taking them. I think it’s simultaneously pressing the power/lock and home buttons.

The problem would be putting them on here. You’d have to upload it to a photo sharing site then link to it. Too much effort for an argument with C&GN that is completely off topic.

There is that very function on iPads:

‘And happily, it’s very easy to do. You just press the Power (or sleep/wake) button at the top right of the iPad app and the Home button at the same time for just a quick second. When you do you’ll see the screen flash white for a moment and you’ll hear the camera shutter sound. ‘

Now please actually point out any evidence of your accusations or retract them.

TA

Since we’re asking for evidence, would you like to provide some evidence of where I “blindly defend pos”?

POS we have now established means “piece of s***” and is presumably your left-wing way of referring to prisoners.

IP

Irish Pete,

If somebody is in gaol for willingly harming another person, be it via physical violence or property theft/damage then they are a certified pos.

Example, if I was to sexually molest your daughter while she was in my care, then I would be a pos.

If I was to break into your mothers house, bash her and steal her tv, then I would be a pos.

If I was to steal someone’s car, drive way from the police very fast then run over your dad, then I would be a pos.

If I took a bunch of drugs and then got drunk in civic, then your friend bumped into me then I bashed him in a blind rage, then I would be a pos.

These are several reasons why I may be a pos, but as I am a good human being and not a pos, I will never do any of these things, or any other myriad of crap to land me in gaol.

But sexually assaulting a couple of girls in Sweden then hiding in a foreign embassy pretending that the evil US is after you so you don’t have to answer any charges is ok?

Can you post a screen shot of where I said anything of the sort?

You and your damn screen shots… If I could post a screenshot of me giving your the bird right now I would.

I really don’t care what you said in the last thread. I’ll just take you for a right wing nutter who thinks he’s left wing and wants to put small wheels on all prisoners so that they’re easier to move around.

I love my new response, that (I think), will fit any situation.

Macbeth: “Is this a dagger I see before me?” Me: “Can you post a screen shot of that?”
Luke: “I reckon I can eat 50 eggs.” Me: “Can you post a screen shot of that?”
George: “Did anybody call here asking for Vandelay Industries? Me: “Can you post a screen shot of that?”

Wow – feel the rush ….

Try it out. I’m sure you will find it works a charm.
