Ever since our plastic tree died a horrible death, my family has created our own Christmas tree. This year my dad made the structure based on something he remembered seeing on the net about self-supporting drinking straw and rubber band creations (anyone interested and I’ll ask him for more details) and my mum and brother decorated it.

They were working on a cool, icy theme and in front of the window it kind of glows in a way the camera doesn’t do justice.

Here’s a close-up of one of the “branches”.

My younger brother, Vic Cameron has already spoken for me.

Cam – mum says to hop off the computer and do your homework 🙂

It’s a great effort, very innovative, but I’m afraid nothing beats that chick dressed as a tree at the biker conference

Nyssa, this is a start. It’s called “tensegrity”.

I’d like more details – I can see it as a class assignment 🙂

Noice, different, unusual

Our last tree died of being squashed into its box too many times. Yes, they’re real gum leaves, spray painted blue. And no, it’s not in the bathroom, the sheet was just providing a suitable backdrop for the photos.

Looks like a sheet covering furniture rather than a shower curtain I rection. Nice tree Kerces, I like it.

Are they real gum leaves – very native if it is – I like it

Very nice handiwork indeed. Doesn’t look that tall?
I’d take it out of the bathroom (is that a shower curtain?), and display it in the front window.

It’s different. I like.
Quite a few creative entries so far.

What did you former tree die of?
