Cirque du Soleil coming to Canberra

The Canberra Times has a nice feature about a contortionist in the Cirque du Soleil which is actually a story about how they’re performing in Canberra next year.

As far as I can tell, the show has never been to Canberra before although I remember seeing the tent in Sydney near the football stadium for long periods of time over the past five years or so.

Cirque du Soleil comes from Canada and takes the best acrobats and gymnasts from Canada on tours all around the world.

The shows in Canberra start from March 15 next year and tickets go on sale through Ticketek from Monday.

f@#k yeah… love the cirque

I went to the launch yesterday and the contortionist was amazing.

Yes, it’s the first time the circus will come to Canberra and the Big Top will look spectacular on the lake (behind Questacon) – especially as it will be held during the Canberra Festival.

From the preview yesterday it is more then a circus – the staging, visuals, special effects, music, lighting, and costumes are stunning and the whole show is set to a story theme.

The Big Top sits around 2,800 people and the prices are fair so it should be a big hit in Canberra and will also hopefully attract visitors from around the region.
