City Beautified? Well they can't say we didn't warn them...

Laurel Waits came across this scene in civic this week.

RiotACT readers had already speculated on the ways these things could be brought down.

More scary is that if it wasn’t dragged down by drunks it fell down on it’s own.

Good luck to anyone they land on.

Pommy Bastard, perhaps it’s Tracey Emin’s latest artwork.

I don’t think Ms Emin works that hard on her “art” old boy.

Pommy Bastard, perhaps it’s Tracey Emin’s latest artwork.

Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was, “Oh no, not again.” Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly why the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the universe than we do now.

So the potted petunias have fallen through the sky… but where’s the whale?

what waste of money, those poly’s cost at least $10 a pop you’d think the govt would put up lights along hindmarsh drive for all the kangas late at night and the early morning every person i talk to knows someone or has been invovled in a car accident because of the lack of lights… priorities pepole…..

I reckon it was drunks. I know I was trying to reach them one night, after a few too many…

Or maybe I just really like the photo?

Plenty of news below.

Slow news week with this as the featured post. Better hope a dole bludging, banjo playing Canberran releases something on youtube this week to replace this gem.

Rules for Canberrans:

1) Do not lean against lamp posts or swing around them singing ‘I’m singing in the rain.’

Looks very artistic the way it fell .. perhaps we should leave it.. After all have u seen the other artwork in civic..

Those who cannot create beauty, destroy it in order to feel creative.

yeah i don’t mind them, but if you’re drunk on a saturday night and looking at them you always end up walking into something…. Funny that!

What a pity. I like these efforts made to pretty up the place.

I like them as an addition to prettying up the place. Dodgy install though, that would cause some serious hurt if it fell on your head.

Oh no it looks like my parent’s house. In fact, maybe it was my mother wanting a few more who caused this.

There was another one half hanging about a day after they went up. It was fixed later that day.

I think they’ve been going remarkably well.

It’s been over sixteen days since they were installed and there has only been this one reported down. And potentially that could have been a fixture failure.

I like having them up around the city, a lot.

I hope this trial is successful. I’d like it to continue next year.

At least you can see them now.
