Simon Corbell has found a strange time to announce the road safety report card:
“The performance data shows that in 2012, the ACT recorded a lower rate of deaths against all of the national high level outcome measures. This included road fatalities per capita with 3.2 fatalities per 100,000 population compared with 5.8 road fatalities per 100,000 people nationally. The ACT also recorded a lower rate of deaths per 10,000 registered vehicles and per 100 million vehicle-kilometres travelled than the overall national rate.
“The national performance measures indicate that the ACT Government’s approach to road safety is working. However, there is still work to be done, and the government will continue to strengthen its road safety efforts while there continues to be deaths and life-changing injuries on our roads.
