CityNews hacked?

Sometime between midnight and 4am something was done to the CityNews news page which our monitoring detected as looking like this:

(The yellow denotes changed text from the last pass)

Compared to the other ads adorning their page it didn’t seem too remarkable, but the “Sapphic erotica” looked a bit odd there (Oh how I have longed to use that phrase).

The change to the page is gone but the contagion appears to live on with:

http://www.citynews.com.au/review/ringtones/Sapphic-erotica.html still linking to http://tour.sapphicerotica.com/?nats=MzEwMDozOjE,0,0,0,0 (Definitely not safe for work)

Or for a safer example:

http://www.citynews.com.au/review/ringtones/Download-free-ringtones.html still diverts you to http://imthebitch.com/se/search.php?q=free+ringtones (Some unsavoury written words but no naughty pictures).

Not a fun day in their bunker then.

I remeber seeing the local Refugee Action Group website get hacked on several occassions, including showing some anal fisting. gold!

I guess what’s interesting about it is website defacement for commercial gain.

Couldn’t that cellulite ad be considered ‘freakish erotica’????

Maybe that’s just a new tactic for late-night advertising. In much the same way as late-night TV is dominated by questionable ads about questionable phone services – maybe the CityNews is trying to jump on board.

Local media story filed under local media.

One of the best web hacks I ever saw was when Amnesty International got a hit a number of years ago, and someone put up a picture of two mega-skinny chicks in bikinis holding machine guns. The speech bubble said “man I’m hungry”.

Quite clever I thought (considering the source).

… for that matter the other ad looks strangely appropriate, too.

It looks like the woman in the “lovedesign” strip ad at the bottom is indulging in Sapphic Erotica below neck level.

So some local site with bugger all security got hacked by some script kiddies.

HOLY SHIT BATMAN!!!

People might actually read City News if it contained more Sapphic Erotica.
