Civic IGA

If you’ve never been into the IGA in the Civic bus interchange you might not realise they do a fair selection of takeaway food.

Most of the meals go for $5.50, they do a broad range of salads, hot pies, sausage rolls, and pastas.

I went for the beef roll and with a rice pudding as well it came un under $9.

Sounds great? Well the service is an issue. When I approached the sandwich counter there were two people already waiting. And no-one serving.

We stood, we waited, staff from other areas started shouting at each other until eventually the right person was shouted at and we got some service.

Then, having taken possession of your lunch you need to queue up and pay for it. When the teenage goth girl at the checkout has finished adjusting her piercings she may deign to let you do that.

As for the lunch? It’s a big roll. The sundried tomatoes are nice. Possibly a bit too much lettuce for my taste and some mustard or a better cheese would have made all the difference.

But at $5.50 you can’t buy the ingredients for less than this.

The rice pudding was pretty tasty.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

Oh I agree she’s very easy on the eye.

Not so much that, she had all the charm of two possums mating in the roof…..

Anyone wh buys from there regulary has to admit she is much nicer than the chick with the blonde permed hair who used to work there……..

Does writing the $10 lunch series make all you lunches tax deductible, JB?

it does now….

Haven’t had a roll from here yet, but I can profess to enjoying their good selection of salads that are always fresh and well priced too!

A minor celebrity on the rise here.

Could be good for business Civic IGA, people going in to check her out and leaving with a rice pudding.

or if she is a real emo, a black pudding? mmmm, black pudding….

She is emo, and she always seems so happy to serve my gf and I 🙂

They do fantastic salads, but the service can be poorly.
while it is fun to judge quickly, the girl is not goth.
Nor is she always angry, about once a fortnight, i catch her smiley and happy to help (who knows why).
The deli itself normally receives good service, it’s only during the ‘lunch hour’ that it becomes difficult to get out quickly.
Next time, avoid the roll, and grab a salad, they have a pretty good variety, and they filling as well as tasty 🙂
