Went to Civic Library today to find it closed “for safety reasons”.

This is the same Civic Library that filled up like a swimming pool when we had that incredible hailstorm.

It doesn’t look like we’ll be needing our water wings this time but I wondered if anybody knew what’s lead to the sudden closure of the library? I’ve got a book on reserve there!

Vashta Nerada perhaps ?

2012 came early

First the hail, now the sky falls in. What next?

An Al Grassby statue didn’t fall through the skylight, did it?

I hope that the building is still under warranty – it seems to be a bit of a lemon

A clown trying to break in? (not literal)

prelude to permanent closure?

something about a skylight dropping in over the weekend and I gues they’re checking others are secure

Heard on the radio: one of the skylights fell in, so they’re checking the them all.

“The Department of Territory and Municipal Services wishes to advise that Civic Library is temporarily closed while a safety assessment is undertaken of its skylights.

This follows the collapse of part of a skylight on Saturday. Nobody was injured, but a structural engineer has been asked to undertake a detailed assessment of the failure of the skylight and carry out any necessary repairs to ensure the library is safe to re-open.”
