Civic Merry-Go-Round Closed

While I was walking past the Civic Merry-Go_round today I noticed a few identical signs which said that the Civic Merry-Go-Round is closed due to a mechanical fault and will hopefully open again at the end of August.

It would appear that Environment ACT have for information if you feel like ringing them. I forgot the phone number, but I’m sure you can look it up.

I’m slightly confused, why are Environment ACT responsible for the merry-go-round?

Fair enough, just wondering.

Just taking the piss……

AD, the thought of quaffing cocktails (even worse, beer), then taking a ride on one of them rotating horses….there’d be more spew on the ground than in yr average pub on a Friday night.

When it’s going they usually have most of the grilles up and, as Sam said, have a knee-high (to me) fence around it instead.

By the way Sam, I thoroughly recommend the merry-go-round when you’re feeling happy. Sure, a bunch of 20-year-olds get some strange looks but if you don’t care it doesn’t matter. And if you do care, find a young relative to go with you.

I’m pretty sure they have a little fence thingy which they can put around the merry-go-round. If they used that rather than the cage it would look a bit nicer.

I personally like the merry-go-round, haven’t been on it for many a year, but I would hate to see a pub in it’s place.

Paint job, throw in a few skimply dressed waitresses serving cocktails now your talking

aren’t they using the grilles to control the crowd?

ie make sure everyone pays?

they should definitely improve the ugly cage its in, and when its operating pull all the grilles up, not just one. even a lick of paint would help.

I think they should get rid of that ugly waste of space – maybe replace it with a decent pub or something – I hate that thing

Surely a Merry-Go-Round should be the preserve of the CMD?

Possibly because it’s heritage listed (I don’t know that it actually is, just have some vague idea of it).
