Civic Pool - big toothpaste tube replaces big poo!

The work at Civic Pool has been completed.

Readers might recall that the Duby Dome had come to look like a *cough* large potato.

The new structure keeps the blue and white motif but is ribbed and free standing so the need to keep the pool area pressurised is a thing of the past. Apparently this has in turn allowed for large doors opening onto the rest of the complex.

In fact it looks rather schmick.

I could drop in on the CMAC people and see if they accept missions over Civic . . .

I thought (*) Australia had some of the most liberal private UAV laws on earth, so long as you were always maintaining visual contact and weren’t doing anything illegal.

(*) = Unable to confirm currently, but the people who sell them to you can probably answer more questions.

Having watched Mythbusters, it seems radio controlled helicopters are as hard to fly as their real life versions and probably illegal in that vicinity.

We may have to wait for Google earth to update.

Grant Scheme is innocent.

> What? You mean the 1956 change rooms are still there?

Yep…still there. They have re-tiled a bit, but basically it’s very difficult to tell that they’ve done anything in the change rooms of note.

Still, they are still better than the ones out at CISAC. For a brand new, multi-million dollar centre…they sure screwed up there. The change rooms are hopelessly inadequate in size & usually filthy (actually, always filthy in my experience).

Canberra Hobbies and Models probably sell a radio-helicopter that could carry a smallish camera…

RioTACT doesn’t need something huge, just something cool.
And besides, it’ll get Jb out of his sleeping bag and into some sunshine.

From the same angle as the original, yes. Off you go to get a better one then.

News just in: The RiotACT runs a story about the way something looks, but neglects to actually get a photo of the item in question, despite it being enormous, and in the public domain. Brilliant!

This is the best photo you could get?

I’ll be back in there tomorrow, I’ll grab a pic for you from inside if you like Jb.

Sure, much appreciated.

We need an official RiotACT Helicopter.

Does the Government have some sort of Grant Scheme to cover this?

Yah, bloody spring foliage.

It’s not even visible in the photo above!!

The dome itself is fine, pity they didn’t bother cleaning the actual pool…or doing a proper refurb of the change rooms. I went for a swim yesterday & was very underwhelmed by the changes. My local pool had been closed for months for this? Pfft.
