ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an altercation involving three males at the corner of Alinga Street and Northbourne Avenue, Civic, on Saturday (August, 31).

About 11.00pm, three males were involved in a physical altercation during which one of the males was repeatedly stomped on and rendered unconscious for about 20 minutes.

ACT Policing’s City Beats and City Patrol responded within minutes, alongside AFP Specialist Response Group members, resulting in the apprehension of two males. The injured male was transported to The Canberra Hospital for medical treatment. He was later discharged with no serious injuries.

While a portion of the incident was captured on CCTV, Superintendent Brett Kidner said police were seeking witnesses to assist police in their investigation.

“Civic is a very populated area at 11.00pm on a Saturday night and we believe that there could be several people who saw this altercation,” Superintendent Kidner said.

“ACT Policing relies on information from the public; if you saw something it’s important to report it to police. We are particularly seeking people who may have more information on the events leading up to this incident.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or any suspicious activity in the area at that time is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
