Canberra CBD have the thrilling news that the rivers of gold will once again be checked as the troughs will be laid out again for the city’s inebriates:

Following a successful trial during the Easter holiday season, portable urinals will return to the Canberra City centre this evening.

Brought to you by property owners in Civic, Braddon and Turner, the portable urinals will be in the City this weekend and after Christmas to soak up New Years Eve and Summernats.

CEO of Canberra CBD Limited, Jane Easthope, says the public urinals are a very generous provision by local building owners.

“During the three weekends associated with last Easter the equivalent of 2,162 urinations were collected,” Ms Easthope said.

“Without the public urinals in place this would have otherwise disgustingly been deposited on the sides of buildings and other public assets such as bins, seats and substations.

“Calculated at over $5 per urination, we are very grateful to local building owners who are passionate about making the city cleaner and allowing police to get on with the core business of crowd management during the busy festive season.”

Delivered at 7pm and removed the following morning at 7am, the urinals serve the many thousands of people enjoying nightspots in the City centre.

In addition to three urinals in the laneway of the Sydney building, at the bus interchange near the night time taxi rank and in City Walk opposite King O’Malleys, there will also be a unit in Petrie Plaza near the merry-go-round and another other adjacent to Bunda Street, close to a couple of popular night clubs.

Privacy is created by enclosing the units with a temporary hessian fence.

Perhaps they could be permanent fixtures with a lemon tree in the middle, and a couple of squat spots for the ladies,

Yes the pissaphone has always been a sexist device.

At 7:01pm, I know where I’m gonna be.

Not at Platform 4.

“Calculated at over $5 per urination, we are very grateful to local building owners…”

We’re very grateful at being calculated at over $5 per urination?

With Civic constantly striving for Parisian piss-elegance, let’s just be done with it and call them vespasiennes.

I suppose that bureaucrat in TAMS has already received the email to start measuring how many litres of urine the pissoirs are taking…

There’s a thread for public urination on the Riot Act. Let’s see you follow that, Adelaide!

Stay classy Civic!

Gee that is a classy image…….

Perhaps they could be permanent fixtures with a lemon tree in the middle, and a couple of squat spots for the ladies,

What no CBR logos? Nothing says CONFIDENT, BOLD, READY like a pissaphone on the footpath.

‘Privacy is created by enclosing the units with a temporary hessian fence’

Very temporary.

Substations… you would have to be wasted to try that.
