The Office of Industrial Relations is reminding all that daylight savings kicks off this Sunday:

The ACT Office of Industrial Relations would like to remind Canberrans that daylight saving comes into effect from this Sunday – 7 October 2012. Residents will need to put their clocks forward one hour.

In July 2008 the ACT Legislative Assembly unanimously passed legislation to see daylight saving in the ACT start on the first Sunday in October and end on the first Sunday in April.

These arrangements give Canberrans an extra four weeks of daylight saving and will reduce situations where different times for daylight saving cause confusion for interstate travellers and commuters.

Frankly I’ve been waking early lately and it’s the extra hours of darkness at the other end of the day I’m looking forward to.
