Jon Stanhope has put out the call for nominations of ‘award-worthy’ Canberrans. You can nominate “individuals and groups who achieve great things and who make a significant contribution to the people of Canberra” for three different awards.

If you know of anyone or a group who deserves a nomination, why not publicly honour them in the comments section below?

The award for “glory hole drilling in public shopping centers and supermarkets” goes to asp

With special mention to Mr Evil for helping with the subsequent testing..

Al Grassby.

Surely he deserves some sort of gong, as well as a $72,000 statue?

John Hargreaves, for
1) Demonstrating that a total fool can be sprung by a breathalyser unit,
2) Arrogance and foul language will be acceptable if in a position of power, and
3) You can get the ACT public to pay for statues of your hero, Al Grasby, anytime you like.

Amber – the award for ‘Encouraging Self Righteous Judgements by Others’.

Bitch.

I nominate Antonia at Deli Planet Fyshwick Markets. Always helpful, never fussed, really knows her food. I love that shop. I’d move in and live there if I could.

So we nominate worthy Canberrans, the nominations disappear into the Black Box of CMD and award winners pop out in March?

That’s a transparent process.

“The “I Love Woolworths – But I Don’t Work There” Award:

Toolbeater!”

I second that!

The “It’s Not My Fault” Award:

Shared between DJ McLaughlin, Amber Joan/Jane Westin and Katy Gallagher – for their contributions to Canberra by not being responsible for anything.

The “Carlton United Brewries Lightning Never Strikes Twice” Award:

Todd Carney.

The “I Love Woolworths – But I Don’t Work There” Award:

Toolbeater!

wouldn’t Westin then be an example of devolution. And as for natural selection, wait and see how her kid turns out I suppose.

Amber Jane doesn’t disprove evolution – Darwin never said that species always evolve for the better. Darwin’s other great idea, Natural Selection, should see to it she hasn’t got much of a future though. Yay for science!

Amber Jane Westin – for proving there are flaws with the theory of evolution.

Todd Carney – for proving there are also flaws with creation theory. Who would create such a thing? He’s like a living version of Homer Simpson only not so large and yellow.

Amber Jane Westin and Todd Carney – for brightening all our lives

me – astrojax honour plaque:

for outstanding and erudite contributions to canberra’s vibrant discussions on RiotACT

and michael rogers for canberran of the year, for his valiance in le tour (give the man something for having a wheel fall off and thwart his potential – how canberran is that?!)
