Coe to rule?

The Canberra Times is reporting that a deal has been done to install Alistair Coe as leader of the opposition in return for his Young Liberal army of darkness backing Zed’s Senate tilt.

Zed of course has a vote in the party room today.

In 8 months time when Zed leaves the Assembly the numbers will change.

It’s hard to imagine an Alistair Coe lead Liberal Party doing well at an election but the young firebrand has got some time to turn us around.

Other than taking pride in our national capitla, what actual real experience has Alistair to be the deputy leader?

Well, he has lived on both sides of the lake.

That’s unnatural. 😛

OOH Ah. He’s not, well you know,………is he??? 🙂

I completely agree with deepsouf. Here is Alistair’s biogrpahy from the Canberra Liberals website:

“Alistair is a Liberal Member for Ginninderra in the Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory. He holds the shadow portfolios of urban services, transport services, housing heritage and youth.

Alistair is a true Canberran: he was born at the Royal Canberra Hospital and went to primary and secondary school in Tuggeranong and Belconnen. He then completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the Australian National University. Aside from a year spent in the United Kingdom and the United States, Alistair has spent his whole life in Canberra and takes great pride in our national capital.”

Other than taking pride in our national capitla, what actual real experience has Alistair to be the deputy leader?

Coe is probably already too busy working on his run at Zed’s Senate seat to take off to Europe.

Yeah this. If Zed hadn’t challenged Gary this time, in all likelihood Coe would have had a crack, if not now than for the election after this one. He’s been slowly working his way toward that senate seat for a decade.

I regard the political parties as snakes who talk with forked tongues. Did they take their political knives to the church? We get a choice of red, blue & green snakes when we plebs vote. The snakes go to Sydney for media acting classes as part of their MLA study leave. The blood on the floor of the party room is quickly cleaned up and the smiling united team presents itself to the media. Who said there are no friends in politics only alliances?
If Coe can work a deal, on senate Preselection, with his reported control of the Young Libs, then he is in the Eddie Obeid league. The consummate fixer and professional politician who can make a deal.
Now is the time to start working on the three-week European study tour.

Told ya.

I don’t have anything nice to say about young Conservatives. It just seems like they should know better.

Why?

They barely have a thought bubble between them.

This meeting’s going on a bit…

Show me a candidate who has had a real job in the private sector and they’ll get my vote everytime over some opportunistic out for themselves ‘career’ politician

Don’t believe everything you read. Particularly in the Crimes.

😉

And so it continues. The libs put up a kid, who seems nice enough, but who has no real world experience. Joined the party at 16. Variety of internal party roles. Elected at 24. Barely a shred of work history. No business experience, not even a public service career to stand on. In the modera era of staffer-cum-candidates on both sides of the fence, it seems normal. But surely part of the reason why our governments – local and federal – are so dysfunctional these days is because our leaders have no qualifications other than a lifelong thirst to become leaders.

I read the Canberra Times article and what surprised me was how “Alistair controls all the votes”. Surely Liberal Party members have minds of their own?

Also, the thought of factions in a party in the ACT is ridiculous. In the ACT we talk about roads and rubbish etc, and wether you are hard right Liberal or left leaning Liberal is, frankly, ridiculous.

Anyway, these are my two cents worth!

I don’t have anything nice to say about young Conservatives. It just seems like they should know better.

I hope to god that this is wrong and that Jeremy Hanson is duly given an opportunity. Having said that, if Coe gets deputy, Hanson had better watch his back.

I can’t stand Coe. Although I can’t stand any of the current Liberal MLAs except Hanson

Looks like another of those diabolically cunning, nothing-could-possibly-go-wrong-with-this, two term plans to win government from the dreaded socialists. And in news just in, rumour has it that, if Gillard wins the (seemingly) unwinnable election, the next federal Opposition Leader will be Wyatt Roy.

Canberra has short memories and so do people on the inside of the Liberal Party. This is an absolute disgrace. Has everyone forgotten Zeds connection to the Moonies – http://the-riotact.com/zed-the-moonie-and-other-tales-of-disclosure-or-otherwise/2457 and http://the-riotact.com/canberras-conservative-contender-for-chief-minister-caught-on-camera-at-crazy-korean-cult-conference/9097#comments.

Bet Tony Abbott and the Senior Liberal Party would be really happy if Zed’s past Moonies association comes out in the middle of the election race. Party members are not thinking straight. You can be aligned to a particular person or faction but you have to be able to think for yourself.

Alistair Coe only got there because of Bill Stefaniak handing over his campaign funds to him without authority of the management committe. Yes he works hard but he has no leadership qualities what so ever.

Has anyone asked Zed how he came to be a member of the Liberal Party – insiders know that he was on his way to sign up to be a member of the Labor Party and a friend stopped him and got him to join the Libs. He does not have true beliefs in the Liberal Party, nor does his brother-in-law Stephen Doyle who has orchestrated this whole debacle and is pulling the strings in the background. Zed is only out for Zed.

Where is Brian Lochnane, the federal director of the Liberal Party to sort this mess out.

I hope to god that this is wrong and that Jeremy Hanson is duly given an opportunity. Having said that, if Coe gets deputy, Hanson had better watch his back.
