Cold medicines

So, we all know that when we want the decent cold and flu tablets we have to hand over ID to the chemist, just in case we are trying to make Ice out of the stuff. That’s fair enough.

My immediate family and most of my friends and colleagues have been dropped on our arses by the latest cold doing the rounds.

On Sunday I was sort of well (feeling less sick than my other half) , so went out, used my legitimate ID and got a packet of the “illicit” cold and flu tablets for my other half – he was a messy messy mess of germs. Later that day, I started to fail.

Fast forward to today. Both of us are still almost flat on our backs. Other half went to his favoured supermarket shopping centre today to get another packet of the “illicit” cold and flu tablets.

What gives me the shits is that on both occassions we had to show ID. However on both ocassions the packets are marked as coming from “Kambah Capital Chemists”. Yet neither of us have shopped at Kambah since at least September 2008.

If this was CSI there would be a lot of explaining to do.

What shits me is that Demazin 12 hour is the ONLY thing that works for Mrs Danman and I, yet they seem only to comein packs of 5, leading to repeated transactions at the same chemist….

They always ask for my ID, I care not, I have nothing to hide.

I wish I could get a pack of 24, let alone 90, jeez where is your chemist.

I fail to see the point you’re making? You start out by saying you need to show ID to get the drugs “as everyone knows”, then complain about having to show ID each time when you went twice within the same week? Were the counter staff supposed to remember you both times?

The part about Kambah Capital Chemist doesn’t seem to relate to anything else? If it’s just over the counter medicine there’s normally nothing mentioning which chemist on the packets?

The few times, in the last few years, I have been desperate enough to buy cold and flu tablets, the chemists always steer you to the phenylphrine..it is not as good but I swear they look at you like a dirty drug addict for wanting pseudoephedrine. The only time it was no questions asked was when a doctor wrote it out a script.

Just give me the proper drugs! I would be happy to provide my driver licence, a DNA swap, finger prints and retina image.

I have whatever it is going around right now, too. So I just want to whine! LOL

DNA swap? you certainly do have it. Hope you get better soon.

These tablets only prolong the cold/flu by making you extremely dehydrated. It’s evil evil stuff, ruining your insides and emptying your pocket. I don’t blame chemists for making them hard to get. Sticking to standard painkillers to lower fever and lessen aches as well as sleeping and drinking lots of fluids is ultimately the best way to flush the bug out. Get better soon!

At any rate, I only use the night-time ones to help me sleep (they work better if you take them with a glass of whiskey). I can manage through the day without them. If anyone wants daytime ones we have draws full of them at my place.

I’ll send around a guy on a Harley to pick them up…

You have to show id, because they contain pseudoephedrine, and we can’t be trusted not to make methamphetamine in our backyard labs.

Being a large chemist chain, its entirely possible that occasionally they move stock around.

Whilst I understand the need for tracking purchases of such medicines, I’m always amused by the fact that once you’ve flashed your ID the sales assistant immediately goes into a sales pitch about the significant savings to me had if you buy the mega-upsized family pack of 90 as against the regular pack of 24.

Errr, maybe it is just me, but i can’t see the link between having to show ID and the packets coming from “Kambah Capital Chemists”. I thought you said you didn’t mind showing ID.

Perhaps a clarification is needed.

Oh, forgot to add… hope you are feeling better!

Ummm, no there wouldn’t… same pharmacy chain?
