COLD, WET and WINDY

The Bureau’s ACT grazier’s alert seems to say it all:

A cold front will bring COLD, WET and WINDY conditions Wednesday.

Yesterday’s note on the weather explains all the different sorts of cold wet and windy piling upon us:

A trough of low pressure is moving through South Australia and is dragging moisture down from the centre of the continent into a developing rain band that will move across the region today. A cold front in the Bight will cross the region on Wednesday bringing cold, windy and showery conditions, falling as snow above 1200 metres on the ranges. A high pressure system will move over the southeast of the continent in the wake of the change bringing a return to fine days and cold frosty nights from Thursday into the weekend.

But at least the days are getting longer and the blossom is starting to come out.

The water level remained a tad high today, and while the flood indicator was flashing this morning, it was off this afternoon.

Would it kill them to open up Scrivener Dam when it rains? Just a little, to stop confusing the motorists crossing the river at Oaks Estate?

The flood incidator lights on Oaks Estate Road were flashing all day. Thing is, while the water level in the Molonglo River was kinda high, the low bridge wasn’t actually flooded over, and nobody that I saw in either direction pulled a U Turn as the signs instructed. I sure didn’t.

Its cold. I went out at lunchtime and haven’t been as cold as today since I was in Beijing back in February – but if it was that cold the lake would have frozen over.

Johnboy if you’re going to do the weather report too now, then can you please tell us it’s going to rain BEFORE we go out into the rain at night and get drenched and end up in our boyfriend’s dressing gown at 11pm while our clothes dry over an ironing board because he couldn’t find his drying rack?

This story would have been really handy yesterday afternoon!

for the inner northsiders – did the new ‘wetlands’ at O’connor (near the tennis courts) overflow and flood the road again? It was pretty funny the first time, i thought.

38ml yesterday (i knew it rained a lot overnight.)

Cold, Wet, Windy and Rackety.

The sudden downpour around 2am was pretty startling… though not worth staying up another 5 seconds for (nodded off before reaching for a laptop to check the BOM radar).
