Comets battling to save match against SA

By Thumper 29 October 2008 0

The ACT are currently in battle with the Croweaters at the Adelaide oval in the Cricket Australia Cup, the second tier state level competition in Australia (basically a state seconds)

Aftyer a horrendous first innings which saw the ACT bundled out for a paltry 111 on what seems a good hard deck whilst chasing SA’s modest 386 all out, the ACT is currently 5/256 and looking to push on and save the match.

Of note, young Adam Ritchard continues to impress taking 5/69 in SA’s first innings, while in the ACTs second innings with Jon Nicholl unluckily falling just short of a century with 96. Ashton May (26), Mark Higgs, (37) and Tom Thornton (11) also chipped in. The ACT will be looking for O’Callaghan (55*) and Will Sheridan (11*) to continue on today.

And in other news, Tasmania seconds are 2/150 in chase of WA’s 9/406. Of interest in this match is a huge amount of ex canberran playing in this game.

Tasmania are fielding no less than four ex Comets in Dave Dawson, Mark Divin, John Rogers and Wade Irvine, whilst for WA, young left arm quickie Nick Death was left out for this match, but expect to see him make his first class debut this season.
