Comets facing big run chase

By Thumper - 15 February 2007 7

Ex Ginninderra and Comets batsman Dave Dawson hit a superb 141 yesterday at Manuka to take Tasmania to a lead of 376 over the ACT with one day remaining.

Dawson, who hit 17 fours and a six, combined with Dane Anderson in a 171 run partnership for the second wicket.

The ACT will really have to knuckle down if they are to draw this match.

Hmmm. Will they bat it out…

Tasmania 5/362 declared (Dawson 141, Anderson 91, Wade 54, Ritchard 2/72)

Comets need an unattainable 437 to win.

I think he moosed a ton before Xmas against someone…

Higgsy is due one, isn’t he?

Thumper 10:28 am 15 Feb 07

Ah… Nope.

Not a chance, okay, a very small chance…

Tassie line up has two experienced first class bowlers, Polkinghorne and Krejza.

Plus the Manuka deck gets low and slow the longer the games goes on, making it harder to score freely as the ball doesn’t come onto the bat.

having said that, the Comets do have Mark Higgs who has a first class 170 odd to his name for South Australia. Plus Cactus Brown who i think walloped a ton against the Kiwis a few years ago. And Wade irvine who is an Australian Under 19 rep.

We’ll see.
