Condor fail as emergency services stations go forward

condor v. conder

Last December we made plain the differences between a condor and the suburb of Conder.

Simon Corbell’s office, it seems, were not paying attention.

“The government has invested in a range of new fire and ambulance stations across the Territory, and these new planning variations, tabled today, rezone land to allow for new stations to be built in Aranda and Calwell/Condor,” Mr Corbell said.

On the bright side it’s nice to see the long awaited and frequently announced emergency services station crawl a little further along in the process.

I noticed that http://simoncorbell.com/ seems to be experiencing some problems. Apparently that domain expired 14 days ago. I wonder if he takes the hint and expires too.

When will Simen Corbell’s staffers learn. They’ve probably never been south of Tuggeraneng

Condorman – there’s a blast from the past.

And just on those fancy new signs which are making their way into the ‘burbs – has anyone seen a vandalized one yet?

Perhaps RiotACT could get Corbell a Condorman outfit?

Ah, I see – I was surprised you were so keen on the detail of a long forgotten visit (1920), the highlight of which was a train derailment in WA!

Pretty sure it was George VI you’re thinking of and not the Traitor King.

Sorry, was thinking of the Duke of York opening Old Parliament House.

I have very rarely heard anyone pronounce it as they invariably tend to spell it. It’s clearly Conder when pronounced, ‘Con-deh’ typically. Yet somewhere between hearing it and writing it, people go and change the phonetic to ‘Con-door’. Pisses me since I’m a great fan of his paintings.

Maybe the government could pony up for one of those fancy suburb signs like Reid now has.

Sad, really – surely ACT PS could have a customised spell-checker to reduce the chances of such clunkers. ABC TV is somewhat worse, and even the venerable National Library slips – the excellent Griffins in Australia exhibition includes an item relating to the opening of a building on Capitol Hill by the Prince of Wales “(Edward VII)” in 1920 – no folks, that was his grandfather, it was the future Edward VIII who did the deed.

Pretty sure it was George VI you’re thinking of and not the Traitor King.

Corbell really is under an illusion that he can soar like an eagle although i consider him to be little more than a turkey!
