Construction next to Lyneham Motor Inn on Mouat St?

I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that there has been quite some construction underway on the east side of the Lyneham Motor Inn.

Does anyone know what is being built there?

Thanks.

. I had hoped they might have been putting in a tower to improve mobile broadband for us poor suckers in North Lyneham who have no alternative (except dial up) for internet.

i believe telstra already have a mobile tower there less than 100m away. I dont know about the other “brands” though

You and I are thoroughly screwed, until NBN comes along.

Go have a stroll out around the Lyneham ridge. Telstra/Hutchinson has put up a 15m tower two years ago just for that purpose.

Because there is a massive sign that says AXIS Apartments- Coming soon. .

Just FYI, this was the old Citigate hotel site that is now being made into apartments, and smaller houses. Citigate used to host anu residents due to the accommodation shortage, interesting to hear about the motor inn.

I believe you are referring to the work they are doing to the foot path. It looks like they are doing something with the water pipes. It may have something to do with the project they have nearly finished at the back of the hockey center. They were working on the storm water drains.

I was indeed referring to the work that’s caused them to divert the footpath near the Lyneham Motor Inn (i.e. not the hole in the ground on the cnr of Northbourne).

Carl, it’s interesting you say it looks like water pipes… I had hoped they might have been putting in a tower to improve mobile broadband for us poor suckers in North Lyneham who have no alternative (except dial up) for internet.

Can anyone else shed some light on the situation?

I guess they could be, but they just seem to be digging holes and looking at pipes.

Are you referring to the construction site on the corner of Northbourne? Because there is a massive sign that says AXIS Apartments- Coming soon. If you are referring to something else, I’m sorry I cannot be of help.

ANU student ressies – ANU have entered an agreement with the motor inn.
