Consultation extended in the eastern broadacre

johnboy 17 August 2010 2

Andrew Barr has announced that he’s extending the discussion on the Eastern Broadacre (aka the land that’s along the rail line and away from Canberra houses).

Many Canberrans are taking an interest in this paper and I want to ensure that as many people as possible get to have their say on this important piece of planning work.

“That’s why I have asked the ACT Planning and Land Authority to extend the consultation period until 28 November.

Looks pretty close to houses on the map . . . at Narrabundah and some areas of Tuggers.

I am wondering why they are trying to retrofit this in, and not considering greenfields Molonglo for this proposed ’employment corridor’? There is a nice convenient north-south route from south of Macquarie to north of Weston, which won’t sh!t anyone as there is no one there yet. Dunno why ACTPLA don’t think of these things themselves, I mean honestly. It’s a bit ‘Der’.

Southsiders are fed up with unsavoury/noisy developments, particularly in this area. We already have a massive tip, the Southcare helicopter, AMC prison, a particle-pumping power station/data centre due to go in, and a proposed cemetery/gas-fired crematorium (though god knows why they’ve picked that sit. For northsiders, it’s the equivalent of putting it on the corner of Belconnen Way and Coulter Drive. Daft).

Definitely no more industrial wanted in the gateway to the snowy please. Fyshwick, Symonston and Hume are already in south Canberra. Time to share the ‘love’ with the north.

I think it is TPV303 that is more important to get an extension on.
