Corcorea Gyoza Rangu

Corcorea is one of my favourite places to grab a meal in Civic, particularly with the sad demise of Godori on Petrie Plaza.

Sadly most of their dishes are around the $11 mark and we can’t go making any exceptions.

They do have a selection of bento boxes, but we’ve done a few of those already.

Readers concerned about my health will, however, be thrilled by my choice of the Gyoza Rangu.

$9 gets you a box of steamed dumplings, a sachet of soy sauce, and a pair of chopsticks.

What’s in the dumplings? Well it’s green, white, and slightly chewy. There’s some spring onion in there for sure.

But if dumplings are your thing, well they’re tasty.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

Does anyone know what happened to Godori?

i got this $9 takeaway box of gyoza today – it was vegetarian and it was YUM! i am going to go back and try the vegetarian plate next, which i think was $10? looked like some vego sushi, stirfried vege and dumplings. will report back!

I’ve tried the gyoza rangu twice now, and although they say it is vegetarian there are some quite distinct flavours in it that suggest otherwise.

I can recommend the vege tempura box though. Slightly on the greasy side, but still very tasty!

Since we are on the topic of dumplings, any suggestions for a good yum cha in Canberra? I could go a few decent pork buns.

two thumbs up for the Scholar in Dickson. I used to go to the all the fried crap you can eat one at Deakin but yiou get what you pay for, or sometimes less if it’s late in the day and a table full of hungry chinese sit betwween you and the kitchen

Under Hippo

I first tried that place after sitting in the Hippo Bar and smelling the delicious smells wafting in through the windows. A great place to grab a feed.
