Many long-term Canberra residents have warm feelings for Corin Forest – the adventure playground 20 minutes drive from Canberra in the Brindabella Mountains.

The site is about to generate new feelings of fondness at it prepares to host an awesome musical event from February 29 – the Corinbank Music Festival!

Corinbank will feature an impressive local, national and international line-up playing on two stages over the three days. The festival will also feature evolving art displays and works from visual and new media artists. Corinbank is also the scene for the Australian premiere of a controversial full-length feature film, roving street performers and improvisational theatre.

Interactive workshops are also being held at the festival including sculpture classes, how to create a dance track, tall bike jousting, a percussion garden plus the opportunity to Bluetooth your own mobile video and pics to the big screen.

Camping sites are available and priority ticketing will be given to pre-registered ‘Creative Campsites’ who take on the spirit of the theme ‘participation’ as opposed to ‘observation’.

Corin Forest’s famous 110m waterslide will also be open.

Tickets go on sale in late November and are capped to ensure the intimacy of the festival. RiotACT readers should check out www.corinbank.com to join the mailing list, register your creative campsite or check the line-up when it is announced.

Marks for bongin at corin, and thanks for the rundown NancyP who sounds more like an organiser than a fan.

I’m just glad for the clothes that only see the light of day during the folk festival will get 2 outings this year.

Hmm dunno Lord Maelinar. Looks like the watersliding is included in the ticket price, as is guided mountain biking, hiking, yoga, all sorts of workshops, more than 50 bands, a bunch of installation art, film screenings. It’s sounding pretty damn fine from here!

More than just your usual “concert” thing which is being touted as a “festival” these days that’s for sure.

Oh and if you want a drug reference – try one of the stage names: Billy Billy – hahaha! Named after local georgraphy eh?!
🙂
Looks better than anything I’ve ever seen in this town. Nice work.

Ha Ha LM – what were you thinking? Bongin at Corin??? Too late now damnit.

Lol Vee2, just wait till you check out how much they charge you to use it. Wounded Bull springs to mind.

I see they couldn’t come up with a word that used Corin and a drug taking reference though…

A sign they haven’t taken enough drugs…

Whoo hoo!
Finally a summer festival for The Berra.
A 110m water slide?! Sick nuts!

AT LAST!!!!!! So Canberra really does rock!

Looks like Corinbank is a breathe of fresh air for Canberra… and for Australia. This is truly something to be proud of!!

I hear the lineup announcements will soon be released, and I also hear there will be some big names. More than 50 bands will be playing too!

Apparently this event is not-for-profit, and is really about showcasing local music and arts on a national/international platform.

Is it true that there will be a 110m waterslide operating?!?!?!? WOW.

Awsome job people… something about which we can ALL be proud. Hold your heads high Canberrans!!!!

Man, there’s really an explosion of music festivals of late. Stonefest is still going strong, and then there’s the two new festivals Trackside and Foreshore in a few weeks’ time.

Some local entrepreneurs have really noticed that summer festivals are a lucrative and popular idea, and there has always been a shortage of decent ones close to home. It’s a pity that these new ones don’t really feature the calibre of acts that the major, traditional ones (Splendour, Falls, BDO) can bring, including popular international bands of the day. The local ones do manage to sport similar entry fees though… but hey, at least there’s something going on in the capital for once!

Bring on Corinbank, I guess. Wonder what sort of festival it will turn out to be…
