Corin Forest

Has anyone been up to Corin Forest this season?

Is there much snow?

Anywhere for small kids to have a bit of a toboggan ride or anything like that?

We went up last season, but the hill was roped off and the cafe was pathetic – just wondering if anything has changed/improved?

I drove up there a few weeks ago, and there was a bit of slushy snow in places. Since we’ve had the last dump, though, there should be a bit more.

There’s a snowplay section on their website, but they don’t seem to update it very often. If I knew when there was actually snow up there I’d drive up with the family and have a play, then have a drink and snack by their open fire. I’m surprised they don’t take what seems to be a simple step to improving their marketing.

I am glad they are struggling, rudest staff I have ever come across.

Just called them and they told me they haven’t been in the snow business for 7 years, and to call Namadgi nation park.

So me thinks that the people who went there looking for snow play didn’t do their homework.

BerraBoy and TAD, thanks for the useful suggestions. We did the trip to Selwin, hired toboggans in Cooma and played in the snow outside the national park. The kids (two under 5’s) enjoyed it so it was all good.

I go through Corin Rd every few months, but that’s to climb Square Rock or to walk up to Mt Gingera from Corin dam. Didn’t even know such place existed… unremarkable I guess?

I’m under the impression that corin havn’t used the snow makers for a couple of years now. I also thought they were a struggling business, as there is not much to do there so many don’t bother.

Zero snow at Corin when I went a week ago but we had a good time on the Alpine (Toboggan) slide and found the cafe with open fire quite nice on the cold day.

Coincidentally we went up to Selwyn this week which was blanketted in plenty of snow. I did notice a whole bunch of people on the way up playing in the perfectly adequate free snow immediately before the National Park entry. With hindsight, I could have saved about $100 in park and Selwyn entry and hire if I’d hired a couple of toboggans at Cooma and stopped there instead. My 2 kids (under 5) would have enjoyed it as much.

butterfly02 – we had the same experience last year. We went out there excpeting a grteat day and left quite disappointed. Everything was roped off and people were repeatedly yelled at by management, who apparently wanted to maintain the nice ‘white’ snow for looking at only not playing in. Instead people had to wallow about in grey slush. If I wanted to do that I’d have stayed in London. We won’t be going to Corin again.

As an alternative, try Mt Selwin, it’s only about 2 hrs away. We (Me, Ms Berra and 2 kids under 7) had a ball there last weekend and are planning to go back there for a day next month, Tobogganing and skiing. I highly recommend it.

Glad someone else asked (and answered) this question – I was supposed to investigate this today

thankyou

I stopped briefly for a look on the way up to Corin Dam last weekend – there was no snow at all then.
